CHOOSE WISELY
When God created the Garden of Eden, He put man in charge of it and in the midst of this Garden, God planted the tree of knowledge of good and evil and in Gen 2:17, God commanded man not to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. He said "in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shall surely die". Here, God gave man a choice; to choose between life and death. The death that God refers to here is separation and death as a consequence for disobedience (sin). Adam and Eve disobeyed when they ate of the forbidden fruit.
Rule 1: the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23)
The reason why all sins are equal is because sin is first and foremost disobedience to God. Irrespective of the gravity of the sin, there was first a choice to disobey and by so doing choose death.
The choice to obey or disobey God is the same as the choice to live or die (See Deuteronomy 30:15 - 20)
Think of it this way, every time you're faced with temptation of sin, there is a choice before you: life or death. God is saying choose life. When you disobey, each time you disobey and sin, you choose death.
WHAT TO DO!
We can't do it all by ourselves. We can't do it AT ALL by ourselves. Thankfully God's grace is sufficient for us through His son Jesus Christ.
Even after Adam and Eve chose death, God loved us still. He loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus to die as an atonement for our sins (John 3:16). He won't change the rule because He exalts His word above His name (Psalms 138:2) but He has provided us a safety net in Jesus so that whoever believes should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
The death and resurrection of Jesus brought us back from death which Adam had brought upon us. This life will however only be available to you if you choose to accept it.
God is giving us a choice again: Choose Jesus, Choose life. The Bible says, Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through Him.
Now if you have Jesus in your life already, if you have surrendered to Him sincerely in belief, CONGRATULATIONS! I pray for grace to remain steadfast, choosing always the life that He offers.
If however you are yet to receive Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Lord and personal saviour, I recommend you do. Today I recommend Jesus because He is our second chance at life. Our only chance. Jesus is the only way. He is God stretching out His loving arms in forgiveness and giving us another way back to communion and right standing with Him. Take it. Choose Jesus, Choose life.
IT'S SIMPLE TOO!
If you're ready to make the right choice and it is the right choice, it is as simple as confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and that God hath raised Him up from the dead. (Romans 10: 9-11).
PLEASE SAY THIS PRAYER:
Dear Lord,
I come to you today, please forgive me of all my sins. Today I choose the life that you offer me through Your Son Jesus Christ. I believe in my heart that You sent Him to die for my sins and that You raised Him from the dead and I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. I accept Jesus Christ today as my Lord and personal saviour. Remove my name from the book of death and write it in the book of life. Deliver me from sin to serve a living God. In Jesus' Name, AMEN!
